Design Group is searching for a Geomatics Technologist for our client, a major supplier of heavy equipment and related services.

The Geomatics Technolgist is responsible for all aspects of the company’s equipment guidance systems, as well as assisting with equipment health monitoring systems.

The Role

  • Assist with product training and demonstrations
  • Handle overall operation of systems including troubleshooting
  • Provide technical support to the sales team
  • Install, maintain and ensure optimum functionality of machine control systems
  • Provide technical support to stakeholders and keep up to date with changes in technology and applications related to machine control capabilities

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree/diploma in Geomatics Technology, Computerized Land Surveying, or Geographical Information Systems
  • 2-3 years’ experience in GIS, drafting, project and data management, 2D & 3D analysis and visualization
  • Thorough understanding of Total Stations and GPS machine control is required
  • Strong project management, mentorship, and coaching skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience in mining and/or construction an asset
  • Understanding/exposure to heavy equipment and mechanical systems 

New Job: Lead Repair & Maintenance Coordinator

Design Group is searching for a Lead Repair & Maintenance Coordinator for our client, a major supplier of heavy equipment and related services.

The Lead Repair and Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership level support and guidance to branch operations and repair and maintenance team members in the implementation, management and administration of all related programs and requirements.

 

The Role

  • Assist in the development of repair and maintenance proposals
  • Liaise with OEM’s customers and branch operations
  • Coordinate contract issues as well as repair and maintenance and contract related functions
  • Provide risk management through identification of excessive cost trends
  • Ensure compliance of acceptable cost expenditures as pertaining to agreements
  • Identify requirements of national and global agreements
  • Assist in the setup of databases and tracking spreadsheets as required

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in contract administration
  • Related business or technical diploma or degree
  • 3-5 years experience in a related operational role
  • Solid understanding of heavy equipment systems
  • Strong computer skills
  • Impeccable communication skills

New Job: Technical Trainer - Heavy Equipment

Design Group is searching for a Technical Trainer for our client, a major supplier of heavy equipment and related services.

The Technical Trainer is responsible for supporting business activities by sharing specialized technical and equipment application knowledge.

The Role

  • Provide training to personnel and customers and share knowledge to increase competency in equipment maintenance and repair
  • Provide branch support and service; resolve technical issues, assist in the negotiation of warranty and controversial equipment claims
  • Develop and maintain in-depth technical knowledge
  • Assist in the establishment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant journeyperson trade certification (i.e. Heavy Equipment Technician)
  • 7-10 years’ experience in Heavy Equipment industry with exposure to mining and/or construction = specific equipment
  • Sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principals and concepts associated with Heavy Equipment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in developing and teaching technical training courses an asset
